Best Practice Principles and Indicators
To ensure that our community of providers understands and implements best practice principles in their work with consumers, the Guilford Center has hired three Best Practice Specialists and one System of Care Coordinator. Collectively, the Best Practice staff, during individual sessions with each contracted provider, assesses the agency's level of implementation of best practice/evidence based practices, using Best Practice Principles and Indicators developed by the Guilford Center, and develop a unique training and technical assistance plan with each provider to increase its use of best practice principles. This tailored plan often includes education, technical assistance, case consultation, and other supports necessary to enhance provider implementation of best practices. After the training and technical assistance offered to each provider has been completed, the staff continue their involvement with each provider to offer support and to continue to act as a resource for best practice consultation. Annually, each provider's level of implementation of best practice principles is reassessed. The reassessment information is the basis for continued training assistance in an effort to advance the community of providers' implementation of best practice principles, and to continually reinforce the Guilford Center's promotion and belief in the power of operating by best practice principles.
