North Carolina Initiates Problem Gambling Program

Legislation that created the North Carolina education lottery allocated a portion of the lottery funds to develop a statewide program to address gambling addiction disorder.

On April 13, 2006 Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services Director Michael Moseley announced the first steps of the program:

The North Carolina Problem Gambling Helpline (toll-free) 1-877-718-5543
A 24/7 service available in English and Spanish to provide information, crisis intervention and referral services for individuals and families dealing with gambling issues.
