Joan Landreth named Runner Up for statewide Outstanding Community Support/Case Manager award

Joan Landreth, Case Manager for Children and Youth with The Guilford Center in Greensboro, was among three professionals honored at the 18th Statewide Community Support/Targeted Case Management Conference, sponsored by the North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services and Northwest AHEC. At the November 10 ceremony in Charlotte, Ms. Landreth was named as a Runner-up for The Sandra Wells Peterson Outstanding Community Support/Case Manager award. This prestigious award honors the memory of Sandra Wells Peterson, a well-known advocate and former program coordinator with the NC Division of MH/DD/SAS. Landreth was nominated by her peers and supervisors in testament to the dedication, partnership and support she has provided to the individuals she has served.

Ms. Landreth began her career in social work with the Guilford County Department of Social Services. After working with DSS for 22 years, she joined Guilford County Mental Health in 1988 as a Case Manager with the Willie M. Program for emotionally disturbed youth and their families. She later worked in Residential Services in training and licensing foster parents. Ms. Landreth was instrumental in implementing System of Care principles for children with mental illness, as outlined by The Guilford Initiative for Training and Treatment Services (GIFTTS). Currently, she specializes in case management of children and youth with serious emotional disturbances at The Guilford Center’s Bellemeade facility.

Landreth has served on numerous community and educational panels as a child advocate and trainer for System of Care services. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Youth Focus, and is active with Child Care Ministries.
