Consumer & Family Advisory Committee
The Guilford Center’s Consumer & Family Advisory Committee (CFAC) was formed in June 2002 to comply with State Mental Health Reform. The CFAC is made up entirely of consumers and family members, with equal numbers from the three areas we serve: mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse services.
The CFAC provides a chance for representatives to speak on behalf of other consumers and families, and to see to it that their needs are met. Some responsibilities of the Committee include:
- Assist with activities that implement State Mental Health Reform.
- Identify gaps in services and provide input about programs and needs.
- Assist in monitoring service development and delivery by reviewing data and reports.
- Participate in quality improvement activities to ensure that services meet the needs and goals of consumers.
- Educate the public, potential consumers, policymakers and others about the need for services for people with mental illnesses, developmental disabilities and substance abuse problems.
